October Meeting is a Field trip Tuesday 1017/06, Las Animas Park Group Picnic Area to view Gilroy's new 6.4 kilowatt solar arrays. since weather & daylight savings will still be on our side, we were further hoping for another field trip that we can all decide upon at this meeting. From November on, our meetings will need to be back at the District Office, however our hope this year is to schedule site field trip meetings every other month for greater student interest & environmental learning.
This year we'll be centering in on plastic and aluminum recycling in every Gilroy classroom, far more alternative (wind & solar) 21st Century jobs education in our schools, classroom & extra credit for students participating on our committee, an additional corporate sponsor - perhaps Calpine after our successful meeting with them last year, our 2'nd Annual Gilroy Environmental Community Presentation, and every environmental item other committee members want to agendize.
OUR first committee meeting this school year, scheduled for Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30 PM, at District Office.
