Cowboy Mounted Shooting is one of the fastest growing equestrian sports. Wearing period 1890's clothing, and using 2 single
action .45 caliber revolvers loaded with 5 blanks each, a rider negotiates a course with 10 balloon targets. The rider shoots
the balloons, with the blanks, which will break a balloon out to about 10 feet. The rider is scored on time and accuracy.
The
Coyote Valley Regulators are affiliated with the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association
(CMSA). These 2 organizations provide the structure for mounted shooting. You can find out additional information on their
web sites at
www.sassnet.com and at
www.cowboymountedshooting.com.
Our club is dedicated to promoting the sport of Cowboy Mounting
Shooting and developing the beginning mounted shooter and horse. We encourage people that have an interest in the sport to join
us at one of our practices. All you need to bring is the desire to have fun. We will provide everything else you need
to try mounted shooting.
Currently, our practices are scheduled for the 1st Sunday of the month. We do have to reset the
dates sometimes, due to matches and inclement weather. Please call us to confirm the practice date and location. We can
also add you to our e-mail list. Just e-mail me with your name and return address. Our contact information is listed below.
Sincerely,
